After Wellington College, Matthew took an honours degree in Economics, Law & accountancy at University College Cardiff in 1973. He trained at Touche Ross in London qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1976. He came a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1983 and was admitted as a fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants in 1987.
In the 80’s & 90’s he specialised in corporate finance and forensic accounting which led him to start backing SMEs and providing them with consultancy. This has led him to set up Vicarage Ventures with William Pryor and Jeff Crisell to provide corporate finance advice and assistance in finance raising.
Matthew is married with five children and lives at the Old Vicarage in Chittoe, Wiltshire where he has lived for 27 years.
